Role brief

techroles summary, based on the employer's posting.

What you'll do

  • Run exploratory, regression and acceptance checks across desktop and browser applications
  • Translate user stories and acceptance criteria into test cases that cover edge cases and real workflows
  • Document bugs with repeatable steps, expected and observed results, and evidence, then verify developer fixes
  • Maintain useful test records and contribute during sprints to stronger coverage and release confidence

What you bring

  • Hands-on software testing experience, backed by examples of your testing or defect-validation work
  • You can write practical test cases and clear bug reports, and work productively with developers
  • You have tested desktop, browser-based or similarly complex software, or bring transferable experience with real testing ownership

Who this fits

This full-time, manual-testing-focused role suits someone looking to build QA expertise with guidance from an experienced QA lead and grow toward senior responsibility. You’ll work remotely four days a week and attend the Cincinnati office on Wednesdays, so the role fits someone able to commute to Cincinnati.

From the employer

  • QA Engineer

Four days remote. Wednesdays in Cincinnati. $70,000–$85,000 base salary plus four weeks PTO.

Build your QA career at an established software company entering a new phase of private-equity-backed growth. Join a small team, learn from an experienced QA lead, and take visible ownership of software quality—with room to grow toward senior QA responsibility as your skills and impact develop.

This is a full-time, permanent, manual-testing-focused role spanning Windows desktop/client-server and browser-based applications—not a pure automation or SDET position.

Why This Opportunity

  • True hybrid flexibility: four remote days and one collaborative day in the Cincinnati office each week.
  • A great fit for candidates in the commutable Ohio/Kentucky/Indiana tri-state area.
  • $70,000–$85,000 annual base salary and four weeks of paid time off.
  • The stability of an established product business, with new investment, learning opportunities, and growing QA ownership.

What You Will Do

  • Own exploratory, regression, and acceptance testing across desktop and web applications.
  • Turn user stories and acceptance criteria into practical test cases, including edge cases and real user workflows.
  • Write clear defect reports with reproducible steps, expected versus actual behavior, and supporting evidence; partner with developers to retest fixes.
  • Keep test documentation useful and current, participate in sprint delivery, and improve coverage and release confidence.

What Matters Most

  • Meaningful hands-on software testing experience and examples of your own testing or defect-validation work.
  • Clear test cases, actionable bug reports, and productive collaboration with developers.
  • Experience with desktop, browser-based, or similarly complex software—and interest in building deeper QA expertise.
  • Ability to attend the Cincinnati office on Wednesdays.

Transferable backgrounds welcome. You do not need a particular degree, exact title, industry, or rigid number of years. Engineering, technical support, implementation, and analyst experience can translate well when it includes real testing ownership.

Helpful, Not Required

API or database testing; SQL or Postman; performance or load testing; Python; Playwright, Squish/Qt, or similar automation tools; and thoughtful use of AI-assisted testing tools. We value relevant experience and learning ability over an exact-tool checklist.

Hiring Process

Start with an Urrly video interview, followed by conversations with the client team and a role-related work sample discussion.

At Urrly, fairness matters. We use AI to review every application against the same clear requirements for the role. Candidates are evaluated only on job-related factors such as skills, certifications, and experience, not personal attributes.
